| Abstract: | Many companies, which operate in saturated or competitive markets, are faced with the question of company safeguard. Diversification by way of acquisition can prove to be a negotiable path, if one's own limitations and the risks associated with the project are exposed systematically. A typology of diversification options is presented. A frame of reference for making strategic choice is developed. A portfolio matrix is provided to show the relative position of the most important branches of industry in Switzerland. In a model the four main phases of an acquisition process are described. |
