Abstract:An analytical framework for innovations is proposed, based on the resource-advantage theory of competition. Categorisation of innovations depends on how they contribute to a company's competitive advantage. Essentially, do innovations reduce costs to the organisation, or do they increase the value of its market offerings? The framework is applied to the healthcare segment, specifically to hospitals, to examine the impact of technological innovations for competitive advantage.
