| Abstract: | Since l989 the political and economic shape of Eastern Europe has changed considerably. The European Community will have a difficult task when it helps in the restructuring of the old command economies, and when it considers the new applications for membership. The success will be determined by three issues: organization, capital and technology. Japan's role in this process is also examined. |
