| Abstract: | What do shareholders want from their hired corporate managers? A new nationwide study of shareholders and their use of corporate annual reports shows a pervasive lack of trust in management. Shareholders do not trust management's representations in financial statements and are concerned that they are not getting a fair deal from corporate management and the financial marketplace. Shareholders want management to be accountable for its performance - and they want accountants to insure that accountability. |
