Abstract: | The magnetic stripe is "reaching the end of its day" says Brian Huckett, senior vice president Visa Net Marketing, Visa International. His company boasts 357 million out of approximately 1 billion payment cards in circulation worldwide, so this is quite an admission. It is a clear recognition, shared by many in the industry, of the technological limitations of the magnetic stripe. Increasing fraud and the need for enhanced authentication mechanisms are the main catalysts for the search for alternative solutions. |
