| Abstract: | Japan's economy is bouncing back after four years of painful stagnation. Other parts of Asia, where Japanese companies have invested heavily, are reaping much of the benefit. Japan's summer of 1992 was the rainiest in years. Beach resorts were nearly empty and the rice crop flopped. For Yasuaki Takano, there was another concern: the usually cold weather meant no one wanted to buy his air conditioners. Takano was then a vice-president of troubled electronics maker Sanyo. |
