Abstract:In condition where the rate of market and technological changes have accelerated dramatically, central to a firm's competitive success is its ability to develop, evaluate and commercialize new technologies. New innovative methods are needed. Improving cooperation within the company and between companies is one function recommended. This study measures the extent that industrial companies develop their internal and external interfaces. It's also measured if those firms with well developed interfaces exhibit better new product performance than firms with less well developed interfaces. An effective design of the new product development process depends upon the characteristics of the competitive environment in which the firm operates.
