| Abstract: | Banks have two primary roles to play on the Internet. The first is to use the Internet as another delivery channel for selling banking services to their customers. The second is to facilitate the development of the electronic commerce infrastructure. If 1996 is primarily marked as the year of the proliferation of the rather unsuccessful shopping mall concept, 1997 could be marked as the year in which the payments infrastructure for the Internet was laid down. |
