| Abstract: | Before addressing directly the strategy for activating university research, the author focuses briefly on the challenges that face research universities. They are: a balance between research and teaching; recognition that research is more like an ecological system than a linear system in addressing the areas of fundamental and applied research; effective linkages for technology transfer; the globalization of science and technology with the unprecedented development of human resources around the world. |
