| Abstract: | The macroeconomic situation of China in 1998 can be described as follows: the growth rate ceases falling but it still hasn't entered into the normal growth condition. Main problems in the near future include: the decrease of export and the crunch of domestic credit, the insufficient demand of market investment. In 1999, government should go on with the expanding macroeconomic policies. Besides maintaining the relatively loose monetary policies, it may further make use of financial policies or "semi-financial policies" to enlarge public investment. Continue the promotion of institutional reform and structural adjustment in the process of economic growth, especially the reforms and adjustments which are beneficial for the expansion of domestic demand. |
