| Abstract: | This article discusses internationalization theory and recent advancements related to internal capital markets in order to understand the effectiveness of markets and hierarchies in explainig financial inmultinational enterprises (MNEs). Specifically, the authors explore how the effectiveness of external capital markets in MNE home countries affect the financial flows between the MNE and its subsidiaries. The data is collected from the UK subsidiaries of 222 MNEs across 32 countries. |
