Abstract: | Traditional approaches to people development are no longer good enough. Trends call for upgrading the organization: strengthening the company's entire management group from top to bottom and attracting and preparing future leaders through new approaches - that is muscle building. Muscle building an organization requires five separate but interrelated steps: set higher performance standards for everyone - and keep raising the standards; develop managers through fresh assignments and job rotation; adjust every facet of the work environment; infuse each level of the company with new talent; and use personnel department as an active agent. |
