| Abstract: | The interfacing of aggregate planning and master scheduling -two important levels of hierarchical production process - is discussed. It is suggested that rolling horizon feedback procedure can be an effective coordination mechanism for this. Each time the schedule is rolled ahead, the feedback of performance results from master scheduling provides the aggregate planning subsystem useful information for improving its planning activities. The advances and the potential effects of the rolling-horizon strategy are analyzed in details. |
