Abstract:Studies indicate that employee drug use leads to accidents, absenteeism, high medical costs and impaired productivity. Consequently, more companies are considering drug testing. Before testing, however, personnel executives must understand the legal issues and the types and accuracy of available tests.Drug urinanalysis is legal in four testing situations: pre-employment, employee recall, probable cause, random testing. This testing methodology reveals a person's medical history, to which diseases he or she is susceptible, what he or she eats and drinks, what drugs he or she is taking. To ensure accuracy, urine samples collection must be supervised to guarantee the absolute validity of the samples.
