| Abstract: | Some aspects of technological progress in France are examined. Different courses of technological innovation are identified. Sectorial and aggregate data from the OECD countries are analyzed and compared. The differences are explained in the light of the research and development activities of companies and the amount of patents obtained in the countries observed. The structure of technological activities is examined. The phenomena of global and sectorial concentration are described and analyzed. It is shown how technological activities are organized and accomplished at large companies in France. The relationship between structure and performance is investigated. |
