Abstract:The car aftermarket in France refers to all those products which are bought for the car, after it has been purchased. The broad categories of the market are: replacement parts, car care products, in-car entertainment, car security and car phones. A slowdown in growth in the market became apparent in the late 1980s. The largest category of the car aftermarket is that of replacement parts (79.5 percent of the total market value in 1990). Fastest growth sectors over the review period were the in-car electronics market (phones, entertainment and security). Mechanical parts and body equipment account for two-thirds of the replacement part sector by value. In-car CD has been slow to take off. Total market was worth of FFR 55,680 million in 1990.
