Abstract: | Software implementation is difficult enough when it involves just one part of a system. When it involves the wholesale replacement of all of the business applications of a medium-sized college, it is harder still. It is more difficult when the applications to be replaced constitute a single, fully integrated management information system (MIS). The project described here is all of these. The most challenging phase of Bentley College's systems replacement was the conversion and implementation of the new applications. The details are grouped under the headings: system selection; the project master plan; key policy decisions; testing and verification; software modifications; conversion processes; lessons learned. |
