| Abstract: | Do the difficulties in estimating monetary exchange rate models imply that monetary models have no relevance and should be abandoned? Even if the models do not have much pover in empirically explaining cross rates between the yen, dollar and the DM, they have still proven extremely useful in explaining exchange rates across countries with significant current or/and potential future inflation differentials. |
