Abstract:"Business Growth Through Innovation" is the biggest problem currently facing the 151 senior technology directors who responded to the Industrial Research Institute's annual survey of its 200-plus member companies. This year's "Biggest Problem" survey was conducted online during May and June. Business growth has topped the list every year since 1997, with the exception of 2001 when "Accelerating Innovation" drew the most votes. The results below are general trend data which may contain some variation in precision because the respondents choose whether or not to cast a ballot and at what point in time. IRI uses the previous year's survey results of top listed problems to form the next year's ballot, as well as to plan its research projects, leadership programs and other activities.
