Abstract:The Visegrad countries' food industries have been subject to substantial reforms since 1990s. The earlier market structures of the food manufacturing branches were rearranged by company transformation and privatization. The inflow of foreign direct investments (FDI) has been a prominent force in determining the present status of food industries on the eve of European Union (EU) accession. There is information of penetration of foreign capital (in percentages) in the food industries of Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovak Republic.
