Abstract:The ever-increasing competition in trade calls for corresponding adjustments. In addition, the required after-sale services necessitate a precise clarification of the influencing factors and costs. The surprising results of an analysis of strengths and weaknesses regarding service performance are presented. The role of logistics as well as the role of marketing in retailing is examined. Several facts that up to now have hindered an improvement in profitability are revealed. Some suggestions on how to improve or optimize retailing performance are offered.
