| Abstract: | This paper explores the operating performance (hereafter as: op-perf.) of privatised firms from 1990 to 1998 in three Central European transition economies: Hungary, Poland, and Czech Republic. Overall, there is found no evidence of a significant improvement in op-perf. for the first six years after privatization (here as: przn). The most important determinants of the op-perf. changes after the przn. were country effects, timing of the przn. sales, industry classification, and state ownership after przn. |
