| Abstract: | Modern business strategy lays upon outsourcing as a means to reach more effective lean structures. Outsourcing, however, requires non-standard long runs contracts with suppliers, that have to effect considerable contract-specific investments, leading to sunk costs before execution of the contract. This may induce the outsourcing firm to renegotiate the contract and to exploit the supplier. This leads to high transaction costs for such contracts, that may prohibit outsourcing, if hold up proof arrangements cannot be found. The present paper analyses alternative arrangements for outsourcing contracts assuming perfect information with both parties, which is not transfable to a court or arbitrator. |
