Abstract:This article is based on research in the manufacturing strategy and general strategy areas, and it presents a measurement methodology for evaluating the congruence between manufacturing plant capabilities and market needs. Available data and statistical techniques is used to measure market-manufacturing congruence. The methodology can also in light of one or more performance criteria evaluate the strategic fit between the market needs and manufacturing. Also the methodology can be used to derive scalar measures of market-manufacturing congruence. It allowes to evaluate congruence for a large number of customers, market segments or products.
