Abstract:The author expounds and proofs the differences between Chinese and foreign supermarkets in the conditions of their creation, varieties and prices, scale and mechanism of operation, conditions of operation and management. Then, he points out the development orientation of Chinese supermarket. In terms of model of business operation, they should take the road of developing from chain supermarkets to large-sized famous supermarket groups. In terms of target customers-selecting, they should change gradually the service mainly tailored to the wage-earning stratum into multi-level and multi-directional service. As to the goods they deal with, they should increase the varieties including fresh and living ones besides articles of every day use and refreshments.
