Abstract:In this study a comprehensive and objective picture of bird distributions across Britain was studied. Bird species presence/absence data was gathered in an extensive field survey, and linked with habitat data from the remotely sensed UK Land Cover Map 2000. The results indicates that there are unifying principles determining bird-habitat relations which apply and can be quantified at the national scale.
