| Abstract: | This article explores the ways in which care work and technical work are related. The study is based on 42 interviews with American male and female nurses and physician assistants. The findings of the study attest to the fact that despite the significant increase of technology in the healthcare field, both male and female healthcare professionals are still constrained by the gendering of work. Women face obstacles when they move into the distinctively technical areas of healthcare, whereas men face problems entering into the areas in which care is prominent than technology. |
