| Abstract: | The total market was worth 755 m pounds in 1993, marginally up on 1992. Economic recession was a depressing factor and the dismal summer of 1993 adversely affected garden furniture sales. Synthetic resin has succeeded tubular metal as the most popular material used in garden furniture. Imports of resin furniture satisfy a large part of demand. Wood is still the dominant material used in garden sheds. Waltons is the leading producer. Most sheds are supplied by local firms selling direct to the public. |
