Abstract:The self-assembly furniture market was worth o1.6 bn in 1995, which represented around 40 per cent of the total domestic wooden furniture market. The self-assembly furniture market grew by just 7-8 per cent in current value terms between 1990 and 1995, which denoted a significant real decline, despite the enduring popularity of low-priced flat packs. Around half of the self-assembly furniture market is accounted for by sales of kitchen cabinets and other kitchen products. Around half of the sales of self-assembly furniture go through MFI, DIY superstores and catalogue shops.
