Abstract:By far the largest retail market in Europe, the German market was worth US$32 billion in 1995. France and the UK at US$9 billion and US$7 billion occupied distant second and third spots respectively. Based on US dollar values, Germany's share of the European DIY retail market has grown from 42% in 1991 to 50% in 1995. Germany, Belgium, and Austria recorded fastest real growth rates in Europe over the review period. Slowest growth was experienced by Sweden , which in fact contracted over that period.
