Abstract:The Japanese have been highly regarded for their economic miracle over the past decade. The discussion in the article provides an overview of some typical management terms used in Japan, chosen because of their effectiveness and popularity. In an average Japanese firm, some techniques are part of the daily culture and language. One might argue that tools like Corporate Identification (CI), Corp. Motto (CM), Loyalty, People-centered Management (PM), Research and Development (R&D), Value-added Network (VAN) be inappropriate to other countries' cultures, especially for the small and medium-sized enterprises. The counter argument is that to strive for excellence, organizations must find ways to improve. If firms can create corporate cultures of their own, and develop them, they easily can become models for other firms.
