Abstract: | The terminology problem is eroding the rational comprehension among the various language regions of the coming single market. A lot of measures are briefly reviewed that are necessary for mastering this problem and the data processing aids that are available (Value Added Networks; terminology data banks etc.). Some special solutions are mentioned for illustration (Eurodicautom data bank; DIANE = Direct Information Access Network for Europe; CAT = Computer Assisted Translating). Facts and figures are presented to demonstrate how computer assisted translating can raise productivity, advance quality, reduce risks as well as production and storage costs. |
