Abstract: | The marketing environment for fresh produce retailing in the UK is described, the literature of the development of buyer-supplier relationship is reviewed. The interaction approach is applied to horticultural marketing, and three aspects of buyer-supplier relationships are discussed. First the stages in the development of relationships are categorised, secondly the principle characteristics of the interaction elements displayed in the relationships /communication, decision making, chains of distribution, and commitment to the relationship/ are highlighted, and thirdly, the concept of demand and supply portfolios is introduced to explain the strategy of both parties. |
