Abstract: | Since 1994, low-income town dwellers have become more widespread and increased rapidly. By 1995, they totaled 10 million. A minority of workers in some enterprises developed absolute poverty in lives Low-income groups were concentrated in standing, half-standing and money- losing enterprises in such industries as textile, coal, forest, light industry and military industry. The emergence of groups of poor workers shows that, next to regional differences , urban-rural differences, and departmental differences, sector differences have contributed to diversification of social structures in China's towns. |
