| Abstract: | The university departments of United Kingdom are evaluated by the UK Research Assessment Exercise (RAE). This article examines whether the status of the university (founded either before of after year 1992) and panel membership affected the ratings of RAE 2001. It is argued that in the future RAEs panel membership should represent higher education in general and the composition of the panel should match the composition of the institutions that are submitting in the Units of Assessment. |
