Abstract:This paper concentrates on the management strategies and profitability of 59 manufacturing companies across ten sectors in Argentina between 1904 and 1930. Studied manufacturers developed strategies best to control their environment. Developed methods were for example diversification, self-financing, merging and political lobbying. Methods were suppose to protect manufacturers' investments, and better manage their companies by concentrating their sector and eliminating competition.
