Abstract:This study aims at presenting empirical evidence as to the influence of engaging in environmental responsibility (hereafter as: env-resp.) on corporate market value in the Egyptian context. It is shown that the market compensates those firms caring for their environment, as env-resp. exerted a positive and significant coefficient on the firm market value measured by Tobin's 'q' ratio. This aligns stakeholder theory as well as resource-based theory arguments, providing supporting evidence for those studies concluding that it pays to be environmentally responsive.
