| Abstract: | In this study, outlined are characteristics of company governance owned by municipalities in Sweden. Using gap analysis method, results are reported of a board evaluation of 15 companies belonging to the city of Stockholm. Analyzed is the contribution of the boards to a corporate governance model and to compliance with a Swedish code of best practice. Among others, the results show the board members having a good understanding of the duties. However, there was a considerable gap as to their performance. Functions vital to corporate governance, that is: strategy and control, gave low values. Only some board members took an active part in decisions. In addition, there are more results reported. |
