| Abstract: | The article seeks to promote, evaluate and develop important democratic characteristics within formal stakeholder engagement exercises by reviewing some recent social accounting research studies. Stakeholder democracy is examined at the organizational level, a framework is outlined, and problems with stakeholder democracy and ways to tackle these are introduced. The article concludes by seeking to establish broader interest in stakeholders in the social accounting literature. |
