Abstract: | The Texas economy is battered by the effects of collapsing oil prices and a depressed real estate market. As a consequence, this huge state is experiencing a severe financial crisis, with mounting bankruptcies and unemployment. All the major Texas banks had significant end-year losses, and as many as fifty banks may fail. Tough the probable increase in oil prices will help the recovery in Texas, better banking and more high-tech industry should be build up, too. |
