| Abstract: | More than half of company assets are today employed in the service sector. Tertiary work and its organization have characteristics quite distinct from those observed in industry. Yet the same organizational schemes found in industry are also applied in service activities regarding hours, salaries and work controls. This inadequacy is examined and it is shown how the development of micro-management as opposed to Taylorian and bureaucratic macro-management can provide adaptable approaches to all work forms whether industrial or tertiary, that exist today within firms. This implies the development of more flexible structures able to deal with increasingly uncontrollable situations. |
