| Abstract: | Approximations are used to obtain estimates for the mean and variance of the completion time for a PERT network. The durations of tasks are initially approximated by normal distributions. The parameters of these distributions are combined using further approximations to give the required estimates. The procedure has the advantage that it can be performed using conventional normal probability tables. |
