Abstract:The principle of country of origin is the fundamental basis of the statistics of international trade in determining the objects of countries. In the background of economic globalization, such traditional trade statistics only reflects distorted economy and trade relationships among countries. The existence of a large amount of transit trade in both the eastward trade and westward trade makes the unilateral trade statistics by either China or the USA fail to reflect real trade flow any longer. Moreover, the asymmetry between eastward trade and westward trade leads to serious distortion of real trade conditions caused unilateral statistics by either China or USA. The international commodity trade statistical system, which takes the principle of "country of Origin-Destination" as its core, is unable to solve such kind of distortion.
