Abstract: | This paper examines the relationship btw. gender and reports of organizational citizenship behaviours (OCBs). Drawing on gender role theory, the effects of employee gender, gender orientation and gender-dominated occupational choice on OCBs is examined. It is hypothesized that relationships btw. gender and the performance of gender-congruent OCBs, for example, female-typed altruism and male-typed civic virtue. The results demonstrate significant difference in line with traditional gender roles. The implications are also discussed. |
