Abstract:In this study the authors show the changes in management culture in Romania during the transition period. They review if Anglo-American model of human resource management is suitable to Romania’s previously very centralized system of management. The analyzed data was collected from semi-structured interviews with about 40 managers in a range of organizations. The findings reveal that management culture is changing towards more liberal direction. Even so managers should critically assess the usability of managing ideas from foreign cultures.
