Abstract:According to the Competitions Commission there are arguments that UK supermarket suppliers are facing concealed but potentially serious financial pressures. This has leaded to that, that there is a particular derivate of lean supply which is dominating this market sector. The writer identifies four different routes, which result in subsidized acquisition costs in the supermarket supply chain. The goal in this industry is not the collaboration of market actors; instead the category management favors the bigger suppliers that are better able to face the pressures of the highly competitive business environment.
