Abstract:In order to determine whether a low-cost, 8-month education campaign (hereafter as: ed-cmpg.) operating within a small commercial district was successful at changing people's behaviour and reducing stormwater (as: s-w.) litter loads, a monitoring (here as: mont.) and evaluation (as: eval.) program with 6 different styles of eval. was undertaken. In addition, also tested were newly developed guidelines for mont. and eval. all types of non-structural s-w. quality best management practices (BMPs). Overall, the ed-cmpg. produced mixed results, with the net result being modestly positive. Specifically, the ed-cmpg. was unsuccessful at significantly influencing the knowledge or attitudes of merchants or the public, it was modestly successful (as: m-s-full.) at influencing the behaviour of merchants and the public, and also m-s-full. at reducing s-w. litter loads.
