Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to develop a conceptual model for analyzing text used in tourism marketing. The model is then employed by performing a semiotic reading of the Visit Cornwall tourist brochure. The model demonstrates the transition from culturally constituted tourism marketing towards the world of individual consumer. Individuals' interpretation of marketing texts is important to be understood, as it enables practitioners to develop effective marketing strategies that are targeted to different segments and at the same time take into account the ethics of the discourses they use.
