Abstract:This article examines the costs and benefits of riparian restoration (hereafter as: r-ion.) in North Carolina. The local households' willingness to pay was analysed using contingent valuation method. The results indicate that the respondents were willing to pay a premium for total r-ion. of Little Tennessee River ecosystem relative to more modest r-ion. levels, and that the benefits of full r-ion. were super-additive. It was also noticed that the benefits of partial r-ion. projects exceeded their costs.
