| Abstract: | Eco-efficiency (here as: e/e) has been established as a key concept for corporate environmental management. Most approaches deal with e/e on the company or product level. In this article, an approach to supporting decisions by calculating e/e on the operational level is presented, based on a case study of the Swiss National Railway Company. Investments and operations as to energy production, landscape and nature conservation, noise protection, and contaminated soil remediation are assessed and compared. Decision-makers seeking an e/e corporate investment policy will find a guideline for prioritizing various domains of operation and also operations in domains within. |
